Pending funding, the Program for the Global Environment and the Environmental Studies program will sponsor an undergraduate organized and run conference during the 2008-09 academic year. The program will provide funding, staffing, and advising for this project. We invite interested undergraduates in any major or concentration to submit preliminary proposals. Preliminary proposals should include the following:
- General Theme for the Conference
- Outline of the organization, operational system
- Potential Speakers
- Individuals you feel would be interested in organizing/attending
Preference will be given to well structured proposals that address interdisciplinary approaches to environmental topics. Up to three preliminary proposal groups may be chosen to submit more detailed final proposals. We may ask groups to combine efforts or merge conferences. One final proposal will be chosen for funding.
Participation is a great way to get issues important to you voiced on this campus! We hope to get a variety of opinions for the student-run conference and form a committee of interested students, which will convene early next year.
If you are interested in participating, please send a one to two page proposal to maddie@uchicago.edu by 5th week this spring. For more information, please also contact, maddie@uchicago.edu.
